New Name, Same Product. Definely Draft is now Definely Read

We're changing the name of one of our most loved products.

Definely Draft is now Definely Read

Why Read?

Change can be scary. It sometimes feels more comfortable to stick with what you know. But in this case, the impetus to change came from our customers.

Most of our customers don’t use Definely to draft contracts. They don’t use Definely to put words on the page. Some of our customers aren’t even in the business of drafting contracts, and yet they love and use Definely daily.

What Definely does is help lawyers to understand the document in front of them.

Lawyers spend most of their time in a contract reading: tracing defined terms, following cross-references, checking how one provision interacts with another. They’re doing all of this through constant context switching between different parts of the document. That's the complex and high-stakes work Read was built for.

Reading, augmented

Read keeps you in the clause you're working on. Click a defined term and the definition appears right where you are. Follow a cross-reference without scrolling away and losing your place. Generate a definitions report in seconds and see every defined, undefined, and unused term in the contract.

A complex contract isn't read front to back like a book. It's read in loops - clause to definition, definition to schedule, schedule back to clause. Read makes those loops instant, so you stay focused on the legal substance rather than the navigation.

Nothing about the setup is changing. It’s the same Word add-in with the same features, in the same place.

Read is the product our customers know and love, the name just finally matches the job.
