The agentic product, ‘Enhance’, integrates into lawyers' existing workflows

22nd May, London: Definely, an AI-powered legal tech company that enables lawyers to efficiently and accurately review complex contracts, has launched ‘Enhance’, powered by a proprietary agentic AI system. The new product, which will be made available to Definely’s 100+ customers globally, including A&O Shearman, BT, Deloitte and Dentons, will help lawyers scale high-quality legal work, reduce review time, increase accuracy and maintain consistency across teams.

It’s estimated that lawyers spend an average of 56% of their time manually drafting and reviewing contracts. These core responsibilities, while fundamental, are time-intensive, and the sheer volume and complexity of these tasks render them susceptible to human error.

Agentic AI systems have enhanced autonomy, decision-making capabilities and adaptability. With Enhance, each model — or agent — specialises in specific tasks, such as summarisation or drafting support. Definely’s agentic system analyses the task, creates a plan, and assigns agents to handle different parts of the task. Agents collaborate and gather information, passing it along until completion. This all happens with lawyer oversight, with performance of the AI agents evaluated and improved using Definely’s proprietary legal dataset and in-house expertise.

For lawyers, context is critical during the contract review and editing process, allowing them to make informed decisions and reduce the risk associated with making errors. Historically, lawyers have been required to move between tools from contract drafting to proofreading, making it challenging for them to retain context.  With Definely, lawyers don’t have to leave their document, switch tools, upload files or take unnecessary steps.

Enhance is not just a chatbot or legal assistant; it allows lawyers to interact with the agentic system within Microsoft Word, to augment their existing workflows by making them faster and more efficient. Definely’s customers can expect to see a 40 - 70% speed improvement in their workflows using Enhance versus a traditional manual approach.

Feargus MacDaeid, Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer of Definely, says, “Lawyers work in high-pressure, high-stakes environments where a minor error in the wording of a contract could cost a law firm millions. At Definely, we are committed to building AI-focused products that will genuinely help our customers de-risk their day-to-day work. As a company, we’ve not rushed head-first into building generic AI tools; rather, we’ve spent time identifying segments of the market that will derive the most value for lawyers and working alongside them to solve the problems that matter most.”
Sigurjón Ísaksson, Head of Artificial Intelligence at Definely says: “Unlike other AI tools in the market, at Definely we’re building AI agents that mirror how legal professionals approach their work today. The ‘Enhance’ product is interoperable with our Definely suite and can be used through a single natural language interface, which means lawyers don’t have to switch between multiple documents and files at the same time. The new system is the outcome of years of research and development, and we’re excited to continue innovating to help our clients get the most out of the technology.”
